The Greek government on Monday said it would support the United Nations in case the international organization approves any new mandate for strife-ridden Iraq. Government spokesman Christos Protopapas also reiterated Athens’ standing policy of choosing alternatives towards aiding the reconstruction of ravaged countries -- similar to the detachment sent to Afghanistan -- rather than dispatching combat troops overseas. Protopapas made the statements in reply to press questions at a regular briefing on Monday.
