Foreign Minister Stavros Dimas met with the President of the Republic of Cyprus Dimitris Christofias in Nicosia yesterday and discussed - among others- the Cyprus issue.
The Foreign Minister reiterated Greece’s support to resolve the Cyprus issue and reunify the island but noted that Turkey’s stance does not allow for any optimism towards a viable solution.
Nevertheless, he stated: "we support President Christofias’ negotiation efforts, and we want to send the message that we want to have good relations." While in Cyprus, Dimas held also meetings with Cyprus Republic Foreign Minister Erato-Kozakou-Markoullis and the Speaker of the Parliament Yiannakis Omirou. Source: Athens News Agency
