Prime Minister George Papandreou and Cyprus President Demetris Christofias reaffirmed that Greece and Cyprus share a common strategy on the Cyprus issue, during a meeting in Nicosia on Monday.
Papandreou was on a working visit, during which he held talks with Christofias and the heads of the Cypriot political parties.
The premier stressed the importance of momentum being maintained in the latest round of United Nations - mediated peace talks on Cyprus, irrespective of who wins the presidential election in the Turkish-occupied north on Sunday.
The EU and the international community would expect, regardless of who leads the Turkish-Cypriot community, that any progress made in the ongoing negotiation process would not be lost," Papandreou said following talks with Christofias.
