A plane will departs from Athens (January 19) loaded with humanitarian aid for the people of Haiti, the Foreign Ministry announced on January 15. The ministry, responding to the need for immediate help to the people of Haiti, is also sending a team of physicians and a rescue unit. On its return to Greece, the plane will be able to carry back some 400 European citizens who are still stranded in Haiti.
A bank account was also set up at the Bank of Greece where citizens can make donations to victims of earthquake-stricken Haiti, while the Greek section of UNICEF and SKAI radio station are hosting on January 25 a radio-marathon to raise funds for the Haitian victims.
