Foreign ministry seminar on 'green' technologies on July 8
06 June, 2008

Deputy Foreign Minister Petros Doukas on Thursday announced that the foreign ministry's economic diplomacy service will be organising a special seminar on green technology in Athens on July 8, as a tribute to World Environment Day.

Participants will include Greek engineers and scientists that will present the achievements of so -called "green" technology to business people, as well as the opportunities and incentives for investing in alternative energy sources and the major controversies surrounding bio-fuels.

The seminar will also touch on environmentally-related technologies like energy conservation for buildings, water-conservation technologies, desalination, recycling, new generation batteries, carbon dioxide scrubs for industry and "green roofs" to absorb heat.

He said the aim would be to promote these technologies abroad.
