Culture Minister Evangelos Venizelos on Monday stressed that his ministry will respect the decision of the Council of State (Greece's highest administrative court), concerning a ruling on the construction site of the new Acropolis Museum. The plenum of the council issued a unanimous ruling judging that the impact study, on which the building permit for the museum was based, was illegal. The construction of the museum is an integral part of the effort for the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece from Britain. Venizelos, who is in New York, commented that the culture ministry always respects the decisions of the Council of State and in the framework of the Constitution, as soon as the decision is made officially public, all the correct actions will be undertaken aiming at respect for the law and the construction of the project. The minister also spoke of the ''violation of the secrecy of the court's meetings'' and the ''publication of press reports on the decisions of the council that do not exist as they have not yet been made public''.
